A meeting took place on Sunday between the senior Hamas leader living in Egypt Mousa Abu-Marzouq and the head of Fatah parliamentarian bloc Azzam Al-Ahmad in Cairo, a Palestinian security source revealed.

“Al-Ahmad met with Abu-Marzouq in his house in Cairo away from mass media,” the source said, “they discussed several important internal issues.”

According to the source, internal reconciliation was one of the most important issues. “Both sides agreed to support national dialogue and pave the way ahead of national reconciliation,” the source said.

The source said national dialogue would witness a “positive” change in the coming few days. A potential visit to Al-Ahmad to the Gaza Strip is also expected to be announced.

Al-Ahmad is to attend the seventh gathering of Yasser Arafat Institution in the headquarters of the Arab League to discuss the issue of Arafat’s death.

He met several Egyptian officials and discussed the Palestinian-Israeli talks and the Palestinian internal reconciliation. Upon his arrival to Egypt, Al-Ahmad accused Hamas of interfering in Egypt’s internal affairs and called for it to stop that interference.
