Amnesty International: Israel uses 'excessive force' against Palestinians

May 4, 2014 at 9:35 am

“Illegal use of excessive and lethal force by Israel raises dangerous concerns,” a letter sent by Amnesty International to the Palestinian Authority (PA) said.

Deputy Director of the organisation in the Middle East and North Africa Said Bou Madouha sent the letter to the PA Ministry of Information.

The PA has previously called for human rights organisations, including Amnesty International, to take more effective measures to protect the Palestinian people from the increasing Israeli crimes.

Bou Madouha said his organisation has issued a report entitled “Trigger-happy: Israel’s use of excessive force in the West Bank“, which details Israeli aggressions against Palestinians.

The report describes increased bloodshed and human rights abuses in the occupied Palestinian territories as a result of the Israeli forces’ use of “unnecessary, arbitrary and brutal force” against Palestinians since January 2011.

Deputy PA Information Minister Mahmoud Khalifa called upon the Palestinian institutions to supply data and proofs about Israeli practices against the Palestinians.
