Political scientist: Al-Sisi is unfit to lead Egypt

May 6, 2014 at 4:50 pm

Political Science professor at Cairo University Dr Seif al-Din Abdel-Fattah denounced the Al Sisi-for-president campaign, dismissing their program as one of “murder, repression and violence.”

In an interview with Al Jazeera Tuesday, Abdel-Fattah said that Al Sisi’s only qualification is that he led a coup against a democratically elected president, and killed and imprisoned thousands of Egyptian citizens.

Abdel-Fattah called for boycotting the presidential elections, dismissing them as “a farcical play between two candidates unfit to lead Egypt.”

Furthermore, the political scientist denounced Hamdeen Sabahi, Al Sisi’s sole rival, as “an extra actor in the farcical play called presidential elections.”

“Both Al Sisi and Sabahi are raping Egypt, and then will kill her. They seek to militarise the country,” he stressed.

He pointed out that the army has become a party in politics, lobbying for its candidate Al Sisi at the expense of the Egyptian people.

Abdel-Fattah added that all state institutions are now under the control of the army, including the Judiciary, which is handing down thousands of unfounded death sentences against Egyptians.
