Israeli occupation forces raid Abu Dis

May 12, 2014 at 11:02 am

The Jerusalem village of Abu Dis has been under Israeli military attack since early this morning. Over recent nights youth activists in the area have opened up a very small hole in the Apartheid Wall in an act of non-violent resistance. Earlier this morning Israeli occupation forces raided the town and occupied a cafe opposite the entrance to the Abu Dis branch of the Al-Quds University. From that vantage point, the IOF are raining tear-gas and rubber-coated steel bullets down in to the area. The IOF have been shooting directly in to the University compound and the neighbouring school during these attacks. The school-children were evacuated from the school at the attacks began and the university gates have been locked.

The IOF have brought a large military crane down the military road on the western side of the Wall and it is though that they will attempt to cover the hole in the coming hours. Several people are already being treated for tear-gas inhalation and two people have been hospitalised after being shit with rubber-coated steel bullets. Some local youth and attempting to repel the attacks by throwing stones at the Israeli forces.

This is the latest in a series of attacks in the area. The university itself and its students have been targeted several times over recent months.
