Israeli airstrikes hit new civilian targets in Gaza

July 10, 2014 at 11:38 am

As its so-called “Operation Protective Edge” continues, Israel’s air force jets have targeted yet more civilian targets in the Gaza Strip. At least 76 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli bombs since the offensive against Gaza started on Tuesday; 22 of those killed were children.

In the north of the besieged territory, an Israeli attack on farmland caused much damage to property and killed a five year old child, named by local medical authorities as Abdullah Abu-Ghazaleh. Three more Palestinians were killed when a car was destroyed by an Israeli missile in Al-Nafaq Street in central Gaza.

Palestinian medical sources said that the strike against the car took place at around 8am and tore the car and the three people inside to pieces. Three bystanders were wounded in the explosion. The dead were named by the ministry of health as Bahaa Abul-Lail, aged 35, Salem Qandil, 27, and Amer Al-Fayoumi, 30.

Israeli artillery shelling and airstrikes have been continuous in the densely-populated enclave for the third day running.
