Fatah: The status quo will not continue

The Mobilisation and Organisation Commission of the Fatah movement has issued an internal statement for its leaders and cadres in the West Bank announcing steps to be taken by the movement in the near future as part of its path towards independence and national liberation.

A member of Fatah’s Central Committee Mahmoud Al-Aloul told Al-Quds news site that Fatah cannot accept the status quo and the continuation of the Israeli occupation and decided to “engage in an important challenge against the Israeli occupation whatever the results”.

The statement, which appeared on some news sites, said that Fatah will seek international protection over Palestine and will work to form an international committee to investigate Israeli war crimes. It also pointed out that the movement will continue preparations for the donors’ conference next month for the reconstruction of Gaza and will call on Arab states to support its demands during the Arab League meeting on September 7.

The statement said the Palestinian leadership will ask the international community and the United Nations next month to determine a timeframe for ending the Israeli occupation and the application of international legitimacy resolutions before going to the Security Council.

The statement threatened to annul all previous agreements with Israel in case the United States procrastinated in dealing with the steps aimed at ending the Israeli occupation and to go to the international organisations to prosecute Israeli leaders.

It revealed that the ceasefire in the Gaza Strip came after the formation of a committee which included members from Fatah and Hamas as well as representatives from Qatar which shaped Palestinian conditions and handed them over to the Egyptians.

The statement noted to the “unacceptable actions carried out by Hamas in the Gaza Strip including the imposition of house arrests and shooting of Fatah members and the confiscation of humanitarian aid and denying their access to the beneficiaries.”

Meanwhile, the statement stressed on the importance of continuing the boycott of Israeli goods and supporting Palestinian products instead.
