Israel complains to NATO: Erdogan supports Hamas and the Brotherhood

November 26, 2014 at 11:23 am

Israeli authorities demanded NATO take effective steps against Turkey claiming that it allows Hamas leaders to operate from Istanbul, without any obstacles.

Today, Israel Today newspaper said the official Israeli letters said: “It is not possible for a NATO member to have relations with terrorist organisations.”

Israel claims that Hamas operates from Istanbul, headed by the prominent leader Saleh Al-Arouri who Israel hold responsible for a number of military operations against it.

According to the newspaper, leaders also believe that Al-Arouri is involved in an attempt to overthrow the Palestinian Authority in the West Bank which was discovered a few months ago, claiming that he also plans to implement a series of military operations against Israel.

Commenting on the issue, a senior Israeli source said that “the government is sure that the resistance movement’s base in Istanbul works with the consent of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, and under his supervision, which is the same one who supports the Muslim Brotherhood, and is responsible for sending the Mavi Marmara flotilla to the Gaza Strip.”

During his visit to the US last month, Israel’s Security Minister Moshe Ya’alon told former Defence Minister Chuck Hagel: “Hamas receives support from Turkey and Qatar.”
