640,277 registered Syrian refugees in Jordan

Jordan allowed 124 Syrian refugees to enter the country in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of registered Syrian refugees in the Kingdom to 640,277, a security official working within the camps said.

In an exclusive statement with the Anadolu Agency, the official confirmed that of the total number of Syrian refugees living in Jordan, approximately 97,000 live in refugee camps; while the remainder are dispersed in various cities.

He pointed out that 82,287 Syrian refugees live in the Zaatari camp, 11,000 live in the Azraq refugee camp, while 4,000 are distributed between the Mrajeeb Al-Fhood, Al-Hadiqa and Cyber City camps.

Jordan is currently home to approximately one million Syrians. Nearly 750,000 of the total Syrian population entered the country prior to the start of the revolution in March 2011 due to trade, marriage or by tracing their lineage back to the country.
