Jordanian PM: Jewish state bill is 'dangerous'

December 3, 2014 at 11:33 am

Jordan will never accept the “dangerous” Israeli Jewish state bill, the country’s Prime Minister Abdullah Al-Nosour said yesterday.

The Anadolu Agency reported Al-Nosour saying, during a parliamentarian meeting, that the Jordanian position towards Jerusalem, the occupied Palestinian territories and settlements “does not need more clarification”.

He stressed that no country is based on a religious law.

“Israel will lose too much if it adopts this law because it proves it is dealing with issues beyond the limits of the current time,” he said, citing the recognition the Palestinian state has recently received from several European parliaments.

The prime minister said that the Jewish state bill has been rejected by all Arab nations, “the Arab League took a decision 72 hours ago against this bill”, he explained, adding that the law “complicates” the Palestinian cause.

Member of Parliament Mohamed Al-Hjouj Al-Dawayimeh said the Jewish state bill contradicts the Jordanian-Israeli peace agreement signed in 1998 and “it is considered an aggression on Jordan and the Jordanians as it is to displace 1.8 million Palestinians in Israel”.

This means that there is not difference between the Islamic State leader Abu-Baker Al-Baghdadi and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu as “both are targeting holy sites and civilians”, Al-Hjouj explained.

He called on the Jordanian government to take “strong action” against the bill.
