Jordan’s King Abdullah II yesterday attended the opening of Aselsan Middle East, a Turkish company that aims to provide military equipment for border guards in Jordan and abroad.
The opening ceremony was attended by Turkey’s Deputy Minister of Defence Kemal Hasan Yardimci, the Chairman of the company’s Board of Directors Hasan Canpolat and a number of military officials.
In his speech at the ceremony, Yardimci focused on the company’s target to produce high-tech military equipment, and to consolidate its presence in the global markets.
Canpolat said that Aselsan Middle East’s products will not only be limited to the Jordanian market, but will also be exported to all the countries in the region.
“We will produce information systems and electronic cards in 2015, and we will be open to working in all the Middle East and North Africa countries, taking into account the fact that Jordan is one of the most suitable states to enter into a partnership with; due to its strong relationship with all Arab countries. The presence of Aselsan in Jordan is considered a step in the company’s goal to spread around the world,” Canpolat added.
In August, Aselsan Middle East entered into a $23 million contract with the Turkish armed forces.
The company is famous for manufacturing electronic systems and devices for military purposes.
