Trial for Rabaa statement judges postponed till January 20th

December 30, 2014 at 12:23 pm

The Judges Disciplinary Council decided on Monday to postpone the trial of 55 judges accused of signing a statement in support of ousted Egyptian president Mohamed Morsi until 20 January.

The session was held in the Court of Cassation at the High Court. During the session, which lasted three hours, the judges appealed against the National Security’s investigation minutes. They provided documents to prove that the minutes of the investigation were not accurate.

Some judges complained that their names were removed from the lists of clinics and hospitals designated for judges, adding that depriving them of receiving medical treatment is an arbitrary measure that violates the law.

The 55 judges are accused of working in politics and supporting one political faction vis-à-vis the state through signing and announcing a statement declaring their support for Mohamed Morsi from the media center of the Rabaa protest camp in July 2013.
