UKMTO: Incident involving oil tanker and military forces in Arabian Sea

The UK Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) agency said on Monday evening that it had received a report of an incident involving an oil tanker and military forces in the Indian Ocean.

In a post on X, UKMTO said the incident took place in the Arabian Sea, south-east of Muscat, Oman.

The agency advised vessels to consider the latest maritime security information and maintain awareness of the evolving operational environment.

UKMTO added that that authorities are aware and relevant investigations remain ongoing.”

Iran said on Monday evening that it had shot down another US MQ-9 Reaper drone east of the Strait of Hormuz.

Iran’s Fars news agency reported that an advanced air defence system operated by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) targeted and brought down the drone, in the second such incident within 24 hours.

Early on Monday, the IRGC said it had shot down a US drone of the same type over the strait.

The Strait of Hormuz has seen rising tensions amid the war between the United States and Iran, disrupting shipping and global energy supplies.
