PLO: 'security cooperation with Israel at stake'

Palestinian Liberation Organisation (PLO) called for a “serious review” of the retention of the security cooperation policy with Israel in the light of the latter’s collective punishment, including the freeze of Palestinian tax money, Wafa.ps reported yesterday.

In a statement, the PLO described Israel’s “racist acts” of aggression against the Palestinians and their lands.

According to the Peace Accords signed between the PLO and the Israeli occupation in 1993, the PLO agreed to prevent attacks against Israel and undermine the efforts of armed resistance groups as well as to exchange information about Palestinian fighters to facilitate their detention or assassination.

Regarding the Arab plans to have a resolution passed at the UN Security Council to end the occupation, the PLO said any project “must include the extermination of the Israeli occupation in all the Palestinian lands occupied in 1967 based on a specific timetable.”

“Such a project must also include a solution for all the final-status issues and it will be based on the international legitimacy resolutions, Arab Peace Initiative, under effective international supervision and include a halt of Israeli settlements,” the statement said.

In addition, the PLO decided to form a national committee including the Palestinian Authority and other Palestinian civil societies to follow up the issues with the ICC.

The PLO reiterated the importance of the continuation of the internal Palestinian dialogue. It stressed prioritising the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip.

It also called for the convention of the Palestinian National Council next month in order to discuss all the current challenges and ways to face the Israeli policy in Jerusalem and settlement construction.
