637,000 Syrian refugees in Jordan

The official number of Syrian refugees in Jordan is approximately 637,000, the Anadolu Agency reported.

1,385,971 number of displaced Syrians living in Jordan

Brigadier General Waddah Hmoud, director of Syrian Refugee Affairs Directorate, told the agency: “According to the Jordanian Refugee Affairs Commission, the official number of Syrian refugees in Jordan between 2011 until today is 636,971.”

Hmoud noted that 218 Syrian refugees entered Jordan in the last 24 hours. “The refugee camps include 101,832 [distributed among five camps]… The total number of all Syrians in Jordan, refugees and non-refugees is now 1,385,971.”

Jordan has 375 kilometre border with Syria including several illegal terminals through which the refugees pass.

UN numbers show that there are currently more than 10 million internally and externally displaced Syrians.
