Israeli media revealed on Monday that Jerusalem’s Local Planning and Building Committee last week approved a large-scale plan for constructing 5,230 housing units south of Jerusalem.
The Marker newspaper reported that the plan also includes the evacuation of settlers from the south of the city and compensating them with new housing apartments, as well as building a number of 11-floor residential buildings.
The Israeli government continues with construction work and the expansion of settlements in occupied Jerusalem and the West Bank. These works have recently escalated as a result of the approaching Israeli elections.
