Israel distributes hundreds of demolition orders in the Negev

February 17, 2015 at 3:08 pm

The Israeli authorities have distributed hundreds of new demolition orders to Israeli Arab Bedouins in the villages of Taweel, Wadi Al-Niam, Awjan, Al-laqiya, Abu Jarwal, Al-Surra and Al-Qareen in the Negev under the pretext of building without a licence.

The Israeli officials, supported with large forces of police, yesterday raided the village of Sawah in the Negev and distributed demolition notices to dozens of houses in the village, which Israel refuses to recognise.

The new demolition campaign comes as the Israeli government insists on implementing the Prawer Plan which requires the confiscation of nearly 800,000 dunums (800 square kilometres) of land in the Negev and the displacement of as many as 30,000 Bedouins from their villages in the Negev.

Meanwhile, the Israeli land authority has been destroying Arab crops in the Negev in the Laqiya, Abu Kaf, Rahat and Hazeel area and other unrecognised villages.
