World military leaders to meet in Riyadh to assess ISIS war

February 18, 2015 at 11:05 am

Diplomatic sources have revealed that military leaders from around the world will meet in Riyadh on Wednesday to evaluate the path of the war against ISIS. According to Agence France-Presse, the two-day meeting is a continuation of earlier talks and will bring together all of the countries involved in the US-led coalition against the extremist group, including the Gulf States.

“I think that the meeting will serve as a general assessment of the current situation and what needs to be done now,” said one diplomat, who asked to remain anonymous. One of his colleagues said that the meeting will be more of an exchange-of-information opportunity and a chance for coordination rather than a forum where decisions are made collectively.

The talks coincide with activity by ISIS-affiliates in Libya, the group having already taken control of large areas of Syria and Iraq. Egypt’s air force has bombed ISIS targets inside Libya since the news broke that the extremists had murdered 21 Egyptian citizens.
