Syrian opposition seize last border crossings with Jordan

April 2, 2015 at 10:54 am

A group of Syrian armed opposition fighters in Dara’a, south on Wednesday are reported to have seized control over the last border crossings with Jordan after battles with the Syrian regime forces.

Anadolu news agency reported that an opposition group called The Southern Front controlled the Nasib border crossing after intense fighting.

The agency said that clashes continued around the crossing between opposition fighters and regime forces who are trying to withdraw towards the neighbouring province of Sowaida.

The Syrian opposition’s advancement comes after its fighters managed last week to control the city of Bosra Sham, east of Dara’a.

Syrian armed opposition groups seized control of the country’s border crossings with Jordan, most notably the Dara’a customs crossing near the Syrian-Jordanian border, nearly a year and a half ago.
