Jarrar’s trial postponed, new indictment submitted

An Israeli military court yesterday postponed issuing a decision on the administrative detention of Palestinian Legislative Council member Khalida Jarrar until 6 May.

At the same time and in another military court, Israeli’s military prosecutor presented an indictment that included 12 charges. After deliberation, the court decided to postpone the trial to 29 April.

The court hearing was attended by a representative from the European Union, the Netherlands, Norway, Switzerland, the International Association of Democratic Lawyers, Amnesty International and five lawyers.

A committee setup for the defence of MP Khalida Jarrar, had organized a sit-in in front of Ofer prison in conjunction with the convening of the two courts, during which the participants raised banners and pictures, and chanted slogans demanding her immediate release in addition to the release of all prisoners held in Israeli jails.
