The Jordanian parliament, government, people and the king himself have full support and solidarity with the Freedom Flotilla and all efforts to break the siege on Gaza, the country’s parliament speaker said yesterday.
According to a statement by the coordinator of the International Committee for Breaking the Siege of Gaza Zaher Birawi, Jordan’s Parliament Speaker Atef Tarawneh called him to say that upon directives from King Abdullah, parliament will hold a session to discuss the necessary steps to provide protection for the fleet’s ships bound for the Gaza Strip which carry dozens of public figures and activists, including Jordanian MPs Yahya Al-Saud and Zakaria Al-Sheikh.
“Jordan will shoulder its duty to protect the fleet and its peaceful mission and work to prevent the Israeli naval attack,” Tarawneh added.
