Sisi 'invests in violence' to get rid of any political solutions

Egyptian President Abdel Fatah Al-Sisi has been “investing in violence” to get rid of any possible political solution for the country’s crisis, Rassd reported academic Emad Shahin saying yesterday.

On Facebook Shahin wrote: “If there is no environment for violence it would fail… Violence of the state is condemned; the counter violence is also condemned.”

Shahin, who was sentenced to death in absentia by an Egyptian court, added: “This escalation [violence] is what Al-Sisi is seeking in order to undermine any political solution for the crisis in the country. He went deep in killing in order to reinforce his existence and to justice his failure.”

“This way, he remains ruling the country with fire and an iron fist.”

“There are extremists and there are people who were pushed to become extremists in the face of such violations and in the face of the corrupted judiciary, which does not respect justice,” he said.

Commenting on the assassination of the Attorney-General Hisham Barakat, he said: “Blaming a certain side for the crime is not justice. Equalising the crime and criminal is not justice.” He stressed that political solution is the only way out from the current crisis in the country.

“If Al-Sisi is the obstacle ahead of the political solution, he must be removed,” he concluded.
