Shari’ah scholars in GCC call for support for Palestine

October 14, 2015 at 2:34 pm

The Shari’ah Scholars’ Association in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) has called for support for the Palestinian uprising by all political and practical means, not just by issuing statements.

A statement issued by the association claimed that the Israeli government’s plans to divide the Al-Aqsa Mosque according to time and space are “the most dangerous steps” taken by the occupation authorities to date.

“Al-Aqsa Mosque and the Dome of the Rock Mosque are in a very serious and dangerous situation today,” the statement explained, “and the usual diplomatic and political positions are insufficient to defend them.”

The weakness of Arab and Muslim nations has encouraged the Israeli government to move forward with its plans, the scholars said. They also called on the Arab League and the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation to assume their responsibilities and defend the Noble Sanctuary of Al-Aqsa in occupied Jerusalem.
