More than 3,000 Palestinians killed in Syria

October 19, 2015 at 11:27 am

As many as 3,031 Palestinians have been killed in the Syrian conflict between March 2011 and the end of September, a new report has revealed.

The report, by the Working Group for Palestinians in Syria, said that those killed were verifiably victims of the war. The statistics include those killed by bombing and shelling, armed clashes, torture in detention camps and starvation, as well as indirect causes like drowning during attempts to reach Europe.

According to the group, 1,688 Palestinians were killed in the various official refugee camps in Syria; 1,274 were killed outside their camps (this includes torture victims whose places of death remain unknown); and 69 died outside Syria.

The figures provide details of the 69 Palestinians who were killed when Daesh/ISIS stormed the Yarmouk Refugee Camp on the outskirts of Damascus in April this year.
