Syrian opposition groups have published images showing regime officers and their families who they are holding hostage in iron cages in areas targeted by the Russian aircraft. The rebels said that the unusual move was an effort to prevent the bombing of residential areas by the Russians.

Russia’s offensive in Eastern Ghouta in support of the Syrian regime has entered its fourth day in a row. On Friday, as many as 60 people were killed in bombing against the people of Duma.

Images on Syrian websites showed women inside metal cages. They were described as the wives of regime officers from the city of Qardaha.

Rebel sources told Syria Mubashir that the idea came after Duma residents called for an end to their suffering and the daily bombing raids. They added that the people will be held inside the cages as long as the aircraft continue to target their city.

More than 200 people from Duma have been killed over the past few days in the Russian raids.
