Daesh affiliate threatens to attack the city of Eilat

A Daesh-affiliated terrorist group based in the Sinai has threatened to attack the Israeli city of Eilat in a new video posted online.

The organisation has claimed responsibility for bringing down a Russian plane departing from the Egyptian resort of Sharm El-Sheikh last week.

In the new footage, entitled “Then They Are Defeated”, the organisation vowed to attack Israel soon, especially the city of Um El-Rishrash, the original Arabic name of Eilat. A spokesman for the organisation said in video that the State of Sinai “is to increase its strength in the Sinai Peninsula,” and that it will attack the city of Um El-Rishrash “very soon”.

The threat came at the end of the video, where the spokesman threatened Israel and vowed to resume the firing of rockets on the ”territories occupied in 1948.”

The spokesman addressed the Israelis directly, saying, “you will pay the price for your crimes against Muslims”, and that the date for this price is not far away, adding, “you will regret your actions… we are located on the edge of the Haram Al-Sharif in Palestine, close to the Jews, the stealers of land, and we have killed Jews more than once in surprise attacks.”

The video also threatened attacks on the Egyptian government and the army because of “their cooperation with Israel and the United States”, saying that “the Egyptian army’s operations against [Daesh] in Sinai aims to protect Israel.”

Following the broadcast of footage portraying military shows of the Egyptian army, a spokesman commented saying: “If the gear owned by the Egyptian army is used in a war against the Jews, we shall pray the next day in Al-Aqsa Mosque.”

Israel has previously threatened to attack the organisation in retaliation for rockets fired at Eilat and other Israeli targets.

Israeli newspapers also revealed that there is an existing Egyptian-Israeli cooperation against “terrorism” in Sinai, and that the people of Sinai say that Israeli drones have already participated in the bombing of Sinai-based jihadi targets.
