November 17, 2015 at 10:42 am

The Israeli Interior Minister extended the travel ban on the leaders of the Islamic Movement in Israel — Northern Branch on Monday. Silvan Shalom said that the ban would be until 18 January 2016, Anadolu has reported.

A statement issued by the movement confirmed that Shalom extended the travel ban on Shaikh Raed Salah, head of the Islamic Movement, Shaikh Kamal Al-Khatib, the deputy leader and Yousef Al-Awawdeh, the group’s head of external relations. The Israeli government justified the decision by saying that it was based on recommendations from the security services.

In another development, two senior leaders of the Islamic Movement in Jaffa were arrested along with a number of minors, a police spokeswoman said. “The suspects will attend a hearing regarding the extension of their detention on Tuesday in the Magistrates’ Court in Tel Aviv,” added Luba Al-Simri.
