Turkish authorities arrest ‘Daesh prison guard’

November 18, 2015 at 10:24 am

Turkey has arrested a man believed to have served as a guard at an Daesh prison holding foreign hostages in Syria, Anadolu news agency has reported. Security sources told the agency that British citizen Leslie Davis used a fake passport to enter Turkey from Syria.

Davis is one of several men who were arrested by the Turkish authorities on charges of belonging to Daesh. The public prosecutor in Ankara referred eight suspects who were arrested in Istanbul on Sunday to court.

According to the same sources, Davis testified that he has been in Syria since 2012, but denied that he was an associate of the notorious Daesh executioner “Jihadi John”.

British police and Interpol have been looking for Davis for a long time. A number of houses in Britain have been raided over the past three years in the search for him.
