The Turkish Public Workers’ Labour Union yesterday announced its full “support for Syrian Turkmen who are subjected to violent attacks by Syrian regime forces, backed by Russian airplanes”.

Speaking at a joint news conference held with the head of Syrian Turkmen Assembly, Abdul Rahman Mustafa, the head of the Turkish Public Workers’ Labour Union, Ali Yalchin, said: “The Islamic world and the United Nations have remained silent about the systematic injustice practiced in Syria for five years now.”

“Our Turkmen brothers are subjected to a violent attack by Syrian regime forces backed by Russian airplanes and we will continue to support them until they get their rights to freedom and democracy,” he said.

“Russian troops use Daesh’s bloody practices as a pretext to bomb Syrian rebels.”

For his part, Mustafa said the Turkmen will defend their areas regardless of the price.

During a meeting with his US President Barack Obama in Paris, France, yesterday, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that the Russian bombardment of Turkmen areas near Latakia is “unacceptable”, and that his country will continue to support Turkmen in Syria.
