Daesh launches satellite channel

Daesh has launched a propaganda news channel, a human rights group has claimed.

Raqqa is Being Slaughtered Silently reported that Daesh’s media and propaganda division launched the satellite channel on Sunday from Mosul, Iraq, adding that the station could reach over half a million people in the city.

The channel, known as BEIN HD4, is broadcast on Nilesat, an Egyptian satellite company whose biggest shareholder is the public Egyptian Radio & Television Union.

It’s not yet clear if it is being broadcast with Egypt’s permission.

The company has yet to respond to a request for comment.
