Israel asks Britain to remove Israel Apartheid Week posters from London Underground

Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has asked Britain to remove posters from London’s tube network that describe Israel as an apartheid state.

A spokesman for the Israeli Foreign Ministry Emmanuel Nachshon said in a statement on Monday that Netanyahu has instructed the Director General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Dore Gold, who is currently in London, to talk with senior officials in the British Foreign Office and “demand them to remove the illegal posters from the London underground”.

Nachshon added that the British authorities have begun to remove some of the posters following intervention from the Israeli embassy in London last night.

The posters were put up as part of the Israeli Apartheid Week campaign, a British initiative designed to show Israel as an apartheid state.

The posters included images of the separation wall built on West Bank land and an Israeli soldier attacking a Palestinian child.
