Israeli Minister proposes to expel families of Palestinian fighters to Syria

February 23, 2016 at 11:28 am

Israel’s Minister of Intelligence and Atomic Energy Yisrael Katz has proposed that Israel expel the families of Palestinians who carry out attacks against Israelis to Syria or the Gaza Strip, Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper reported.

The paper quoted Katz as saying on Monday that displacing the Palestinian families will deter Palestinian minors from carrying out any attempts to attack Israelis, since “demolitions were not enough to stop them”.

According to the newspaper, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has expressed support for the proposal; however it is likely that the judicial authorities will not accept it.

In November last year, Israel’s Defence Minister Moshe Ya’alon proposed that Israel expel the families of Palestinian fighters to the Gaza Strip.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu also expressed support for this proposal.
