Rights group: 339 violations within 10 days of Syria ceasefire

Twenty-seven violations were documented on the ninth day of the temporary truce in Syria, bringing the total number of breaches in the first 10 days of the ceasefire to 339, the Syrian Network for Human Rights revealed in a report yesterday.

The independent London-Based group said 12 breaches on the ninth day were by the Assad regime. While three opposition fighters were killed on Monday, bringing the death toll since the start of the ceasefire to 67, including civilians.

According to the statement, Syrian regime forces breached the agreement through combat operations five times in Damascus, five times in Hama and twice in Homs.

There were three arrests by regime forces in Damascus, four in its suburbs, one in Lattakia, Hama and Tartous, and two in Homs, while three people were arrested by Kurdish forces in the city of Afrin in the province of Aleppo.

The UN Security Council unanimously approved an American-Russian resolution for “cessation of hostilities” from midnight on 27 February and lasting two weeks.
