Egypt’s Revolutionary Council expresses concern over Morsi’s health

The Egyptian Revolutionary Council has expressed concern about the physical safety and health condition of Egypt’s ousted President Mohamed Morsi after he was absent for the second time from his trial sessions.

On Tuesday, the Cairo Criminal Court postponed Morsi’s trial relating to charges of espionage after he failed to show up in court, a judicial source who asked not to be named told Anadolu news agency.

The same court also adjourned Morsi’s trial regarding charges of insulting the Egyptian judiciary on Saturday to mid-April for the same reason.

In a letter addressed to the European Parliament and human rights organizations, the council said: “Although these trials lack legitimacy, the public appearances of President Morsi during them is the only evidence for his safety.”

Morsi currently faces five separate trials involving multiple criminal charges.
