March 29, 2016 at 12:41 pm

French Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Development Jean-Marc Ayrault has started a two-day visit to Algeria to discuss mutual relations, Quds Press reported yesterday.

In a statement, the Algerian foreign ministry said the visit comes in the context of the mutual agreement between the two countries and following an invitation from the country’s Foreign Minister Ramtane Lamamra. The agreement stipulates setting up political dialogue between the two countries.

According to the statement, Ayrault will evaluate the development of current relations as well as discuss ways to deepen and reinforce political dialogue.

The officials would also discuss regional and international issues, mainly security and safety issues.

A number of economic agreements are due to be signed during the visit, the statement said.

Ayrault’s visit comes days before an expected visit by French Prime Minister Manuel Valls, which is slated for 9-10 April.
