Italy provides humanitarian, security support for Libyan ‘National Agreement Government’

April 2, 2016 at 2:20 pm

Italy’s Prime Minister Matteo Renzi has denied that his country is planning to carry out military operations in Libya, reiterating however his country’s humanitarian and security support for the National Agreement Government, Anadolu reported on Friday.

Renzi said: “We are responsible for the Libyan file and at the top of this file is support for [Fayiz] Al-Sarraj’s government. This means readiness for humanitarian assistance, training police forces and reinforcing international cooperation.”

He explained, however, that support for Al-Saraj’s government does not mean military intervention as some are suggesting.
