One third of Iraqis believe that the US supports terrorism in general and Daesh in particular, and half completely oppose America’s involvement in the war against Daesh, a report by the US Department of State Inspector General has revealed.

The report on the activities of the American embassy in Iraq stated: “The State department’s latest polls suggest that nearly 40 per cent of the country said the US is purposefully working to destabilise Iraq and control its natural resources.”

It also stated that the American embassy in Baghdad “confronts active disinformation campaigns and residual suspicions about US policy that undermine its messaging.”

“Department polling shows that nearly all Iraqis have unfavourable views of Daesh and oppose its goals and tactics, with no significant variation across religious sects and ethnic groups,” the report revealed.
