Al-Anbar is in the west of Iraq and has been suffering from the mass destruction of its infrastructure, mainly the cities controlled by Daesh, since the start of this year. The devastation includes the central city of Al-Ramadi. Clashes between Iraqi forces and the extremist group have led to the latter destroying houses, streets and other facilities, turning the city into piles of rubble.

Meanwhile, special teams are searching for and clearing landmines planted by Daesh in those areas liberated by the army, in the hope of being able to allow residents to return.
