The Saudi-led Coalition will attack Sana’a if the negotiations in Kuwait fail, the group’s spokesperson Brigadier General Ahmed Bin Hassan Al-Asiri said.

During his interview on the Al-Ashira Masa’an programme aired on Egypt’s Dream channel, Al-Asiri said: “If the peace talks in Kuwait fail, we will attack the capital city of Sana’a and settle the battle in Yemen.”

On the issue of cooperation between overthrown Yemeni President Ali Abdullah Saleh, the Houthi militias and Al-Qaeda, Al-Asiri said: “Ali Abdullah Saleh’s cooperated with the Houthis militias and Al-Qaeda. Al-Qaeda had fled Saudi Arabia and went to Yemen after being fought, and established what is known as Al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula. They fought over smuggling weapons, people and drugs and they control non-governmental areas in Yemen, such as Hadramawt and other areas.”

“Saleh had used them from time to time to carry out bombings and raise the banner of Daesh and Al-Qaeda in order to gain Western financial support on claims that he was combatting them. He is now using them to portray the image of instability and insecurity in the cities liberated from Houthi militias.”
