During the visit of Bahrain’s King Hamad Bin Issa Al-Khalifa to Ankara, Turkey and Bahrain on Friday signed five agreements and protocols on mutual cooperation.

Khalifa and a delegation of senior Bahraini officials arrived in Ankara on Thursday and held several meetings with their Turkish counterparts.

In his meeting with the Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Al-Khalifa discussed several mutual issues regarding relations between the two countries and the situation in the region.

Erdogan thanked the Bahraini King for his phone called that immediately followed the failed coup last month. “The people and Government of Turkey will never forget this stance, which will remain engraved in our memory,” Erdogan said.

Meanwhile, the Bahraini King said: “The Kingdom of Bahrain firmly considers Turkey as a brother and ally,” adding that his visit would witness new horizons of joint work and strengthen their deep-rooted relations.

The two countries emphasised the importance of regional and international efforts to combat terrorism and extremism and consolidate security and stability in the region.

Al-Khalifa praised the Turkish support of the Arab and Islamic causes, as well as its contribution to regional and global peace.

Officials from both sides signed the agreements on sports, youths, cultural relations, commercial exchange and air transport.
