Details of the agreement made between the Houthis and Iraq’s Popular Mobilisation Forces are emerging days after the groups met in Baghdad.

Iraqi sources have revealed that the militias have reached an agreement regarding military and political cooperation particularly in the field of training and sharing experts. The Popular Mobilisation Forces will also provide logistical support for the Houthis.

According to the sources, the visit was arranged and coordinated by the Iranian regime and specifically the Revolutionary Guards.

“A special delegation came from Iran to meet the Houthi delegation, amongst them was the Iranian ambassador to Yemen,” the source said.

They discussed getting 10,000 fighters together, in the first instance, to take the place of Yemen’s National Guard which was loyal to ousted President Ali Abdullah Saleh.

Training will take place in Eritrea in order to allow the entry of Iranian officials.
