UAE pledges $50m to rebuild Mosul

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has pledged $50 million in aid for reconstruction efforts in Mosul, Iraq.

The initiative is part of its humanitarian response which will be implemented after the city is liberated from Daesh; an operation to rid the city of militants from the terrorist group is expected to begin later this month.

Statistics issued by the UAE’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation claim the Emirates has contributed a total of $182 million in foreign aid to Iraq over the past five years.
