Houthis attack Saudi border port-city of Jizan

October 14, 2016 at 3:22 pm

A Saudi spy drone was shot down by Houthi militias over Al-Qawiya military base in Saudi’s southwestern region of Jizan yesterday, the pro-Houthi news outlet Al-Masirah reported.

Meanwhile, a Saudi military vehicle came under fire from Houthi forces, while a Saudi soldier was killed by Houthi militia snipers in the Al-Rabiah area of Jizan.

While local anti-Houthi forces, backed by the Yemeni army, have pushed military gains in the Houthi heartland of Sa’ada this week, over the past 24 hours, Houthi forces have advanced on several fronts in the Jizan, Najran and Asir regions of Saudi Arabia, Yemen’s Saba news agency reported yesterday.

Yemen has been locked in a bitter battle between Shia Houthi fighters allied with forces loyal to ousted President Ali Abdullah Saleh and government forces led by President Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi, along with local tribes and resistance forces backed by the Saudi-led coalition’s airstrikes.
