UN evacuates international staff from Aleppo

November 2, 2016 at 11:17 am

The UN has evacuated its international staff from Aleppo after an artillery shell hit the hotel where they were staying, Moheet.com reported on Tuesday. Special sources in the city said that the Shahbaa Halab Hotel was targeted but no injuries were reported.

The anonymous sources said that the UN staff were taken to Damascus. Local staff have been left in Aleppo.

Other sources close to the government claimed that the shelling came from opposition forces who control Bustan Al-Qasr neighbourhood. They said that three shells were fired at the hotel, which is in an area controlled by the regime. One of the shells apparently hit the 15th, 16th and 17th floors of the hotel while the other two hit a residential building across the road.
