The administration of the Islamic Waqf in Jerusalem yesterday warned of the Israeli plans to change the status quo at Al-Aqsa Mosque, the Anadolu Agency reported.

In a statement issued in response to the Israeli Knesset session which discussed the issue, the organisation said: “This plan, which was discussed by Israeli government officials who are in duty, is dangerous.”

On Monday, a number of Israeli officials held a meeting in the Knesset and discussed plans to change the status quo in Al-Aqsa Mosque, calling for allowing Jews to perform what religious rituals inside the Islamic holy site.

Israeli newspaper Haaretz said that the Israeli Interior Minister Gilad Erda, Jerusalem Minister Ze’ev Elkin and Agriculture Minister Uri Ariel were among the officials who attended the meeting.

The statement blamed the Israeli government for the consequences of the remarks made by the ministers and the MKs during the meeting, warning the Israeli occupation against “touching Al-Aqsa Mosque, which is the holy site for 1.7 billion Muslim.”

On a daily basis, Israeli police allow settlers to raid Al-Aqsa Mosque through Al- Maghrabi Gate and tour it.
