Talks underway to hold Palestinian reconciliation meeting in Egypt

December 7, 2016 at 9:30 pm

A member of the Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP), Saleh Zeidan, revealed yesterday that consultations are underway to arrange for a meeting for Palestinian factions in Cairo to discuss reconciliation.

“Until now, nothing concrete has taken place towards the implementation of the Palestinian reconciliation agreement, in particular the Cairo Agreement of May signed between rival the Fatah and Hamas movements with the participation of various factions,” Zeidan told Al-Araby Al-Jadeed.

The official explained that the current atmosphere is very encouraging to hold the talks, especially after Fatah concluded its seventh congress.

Following the party’s congress, Hamas and Fatah exchanged warm congratulatory messages indicating a change in relations between them.

Earlier, a Hamas spokesman, Hazem Kassem, told Al-Araby Al-Jadeed that his movement is reaching out for reconciliation.
