The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has warned its citizens against travelling to Turkey following the terrorist attack last week by Daesh on a packed Istanbul nightclub.

UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation issued the travel warning to its citizens yesterday in the wake of the New Year’s Day attack which saw 39 people killed.

The statement called on UAE citizens to avoid travelling to Turkey until further notice.

Many of those killed in terrorist attacks were foreigners including nationals of Saudi Arabia, Lebanon, Morocco, Libya, Israel, India, Canada, a Turkish-Belgian dual citizen and a Franco-Tunisian woman.

The New Year’s Day terrorist attack was one of many carried out by Daesh in Turkey, which has a thriving tourist industry, that may suffer as a result.
