Israeli soldiers yesterday shot and killed a Palestinian teen during clashes between the troops and Palestinian protesters in Taqou village of Bethlehem, West Bank.

At least four people were reportedly injured in the clashes.

Sources from the village where the incident took place named the victim as Qusai Al-Amour, 17, and said that he had been shot in the chest.

The Israeli military described the protest as a “violent riot” in which “rioters hurled rocks” at Israeli soldiers.

“Border police fired 0.22-calibre rounds towards the main violence instigator, resulting in his death,” an army spokeswoman said, drawing attention to the relatively small calibre of bullets used. 0.22 bullets are still considered live rounds.

Video footage has emerged showing the moment Israeli soldiers shot Al-Amour, before taking him to their jeeps.

His body was later returned to his family.
