The secretary-general of the Tunisia Project (Mashrou Tounes) movement Mohsen Marzouk has said that his party is “willing to co-operate with other political actors in the upcoming municipal elections”, though he branded a recent delegate reshuffle a “scandal”.
“The base of the party is ready for the municipal polls,” Marzouk said during an extended meeting at the regional office of Machrou Tounes in Monastir.
Marzouk also described the recent reshuffle of delegates as a “scandal” and a clear violation of the law which threatens the credibility of the municipal elections.
He also called on the ruling coalition to be fully responsible politically and legally for the non-implementation of the provisions of the Carthage Declaration, a cross-party agreement regarding a national unity government, arguing that there can be no compromise as long as the fundamental principles of the agreement are not respected.
Marzouk stated it was essential to engage in “a modern national project” explaining that the political alternative will be presented at the end of March next year concerning the political, economic and social fields.
Marzouk reiterated that it would be a programme that could help the country achieve the objectives agreed in the Carthage accord.
