Russian News agency Tass has reported that Turkey is currently discussing a number of joint weapons development projects with one of Russia’s leading arms exporter, Rosoboronexport.
According to Tass, Turkey is interested in a wide range of defence industry products, in particular, Russian air defence systems of different range.
Rosoboronexport’s deputy chief of marketing, Vladimir Goncharov, has confirmed today that his company is collaborating with Turkish partners on the development of a new generation of weapon systems.

“Turkey’s national defence ministry is interested in a wide range of defence industry products, in particular, Russian air defence systems of different range. Also, we are discussing a number of projects for technological partnership in the joint development and production of future weapon systems,” the company’s press-service quoted Goncharov as saying.
Goncharov said since the end of 2016, Rosoboronexport had conducted active consultations with Turkish partners over supplies of weapons and military technologies.
The press-service added that Rosoboronexport has organised the Russian exhibition at the international arms show IDEF-2017, due to be held in Istanbul from 9-12 May.

Rosoboronexport will present a total of 240 samples of weapon systems and military technologies at the exhibition. They will also put on display information about 200 products for all arms and services.
Several meetings with government, military officials and entrepreneurs from Turkey and across the Middle East are also due to take place during the period.
