Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas has concluded his visit to Washington after having met with US President Donald Trump, who is now preparing to visit Bethlehem in the West Bank at the end of the month.

During his meeting with Arab ambassadors shortly before leaving Washington early this morning, Anadolu cited Abbas as saying: “When President Trump won the US presidential elections, I congratulated him on his victory and invited him to visit Bethlehem.”

We have been informed that he will be visiting Bethlehem on 23 May, and this is an opportunity to welcome him. It will be a chance to continue our discussions on the peace process.

The Palestinian president had met with the American president in the White House on Wednesday, and their discussions focused on the means to revive the Palestinian-Israeli peace process.

The White House announced that Trump would visit the Palestinian territories as part of a tour that includes Saudi Arabia, Italy, Belgium and Israel.
